Michel Ange Balikwisha puts in hard yards in Celtic redemption arc pursuit

(Image: PA)

Michel Ange Balikwisha is targeting a redemption arc at Celtic this summer.

The former Royal Antwerp attacker endured a miserable first season as a Hoops player having made only two starts since a £5million move.

Balikwisha was left out of the matchday squad at Parkhead for the most part towards the end of last season and that led many to speculate that his time at the club may already be over.

The player himself, though, seems to be taking no for an answer and has already been spotted back on the grass as he looks to redeem himself this term.

Sharing clips on social media, Balikwisha has been training with a local coach in Belgium - Pro Touch - as he looks to get his fitness up and back to speed.

Balikwisha's time in Scotland has been difficult and he offered little since making his switch. He failed to find the net and provided just one assist in 14 total appearances.

Manager Martin O'Neill even hinted that he did not know the player's ideal position as he was "definitely not" a wide player despite Brendan Rodgers' claims when he was snapped up.

The former interim, now permanent, manager said back in January: "Well, my view would be that he would be more like a number 10. Absolutely. He wouldn't be a full-blown striker and he's definitely not a wide player."

Balikwisha had been scouted by Hoops recruitment staff for close to 18 months before a decision was made to spend on his services.
