Michail Antonio salutes West Ham signings Jarrod Bowen and Tomas Soucek

Michail Antonio has hailed the impact of January signings Jarrod Bowen and Tomas Soucek, with West Ham having found their touch in front of goal once more.

Both Antonio and midfielder Soucek, who arrived on loan from Slavia Prague in January and will make the move permanent should the Hammers stay up, made it two goals in as many games with their strikes at Newcastle yesterday.

The Czech Republic star often covers more ground than any other in claret and blue, but is now also becoming a scoring threat in the box.

Bowen, a deadline-day signing from Hull City, is hitting his stride too, being a constant nuisance for opposing defenders. He has three assists from the past two games.

“That’s another assist for Jarrod and another goal for Tomas,” said Antonio, whose goal was his fourth of the season. “They’re looking good and have definitely added to our squad.

“This season I don’t feel I’ve got enough goals, so it’s good I’ve got two in the last two games and hopefully I can keep that going.”

West Ham’s defensive form is still letting them down. After losing the lead twice at St James’s Park, West Ham’s tally of points lost from a leading position this season climbed to 24 — more than any other side in the top flight.

“Before the last two games, we weren’t scoring goals,” Antonio told West Ham TV. “Now we’ve shown we can score, we need to start doing better at the back.”
