Michail Antonio nodded the ball down, Tomas Soucek got a touch and West Ham went 3-0 up after just 32 minutes against Arsenal. Cue wild celebrations on the touchline and amongst the players. Well most anyway.
Jesse Lingard ran to Soucek and the two of them leaped with joy at the incredible start to a thrilling match.
The goalscorer was not the first man Lingard had gone to though. The England international had initially run straight to Antonio who shook his head as if to indicate he thought Soucek was off-side.
Lingard being the bubbly character that he is shrugged and went to celebrate with his Czech teammate.
Lingard is never one to miss an opportunity to celebrate, he did so in style twice against Spurs after all.
Antonio's reaction might seem strange at first as this is the man who has given us 'The Worm', 'The Homer Simpson' and 'The Backstroke'. Okay, it was not his goal but 3-0 up against Arsenal and you would expect him to at least crack a smile.
It also drew the mind back to Lingard's famous 'band' celebration and for a man who loves a showy celebration, Antonio was conspicuous by his absence from that picture as well.
But not to fear, this is not a sign of Antonio being outside of the group or not on board with his teammates, in fact, it is a signal from the 30-year-old of his dislike of VAR in football:
"I’ve had to stop celebrating because of VAR. It has ruined the game. I can’t even talk about it as I’ll go on a rant!
"I don’t know whether I’ve scored or not, so that’s why I don’t really want to go and celebrate because I’ll feel like an idiot if VAR goes ‘checking goal’ and I’ll be there doing the backstroke or something silly," Antonio was quoted by kumb.com.
The striker summed up how many fans feel about the introduction of VAR to the game, every goal has a question mark about it until the check is complete.
When there is no VAR involved, in for instance the early rounds of the League Cup or FA Cup depending on which stadium the game is played in you can see the spontaneous celebration and release of emotion both on the pitch and in the stands.
Antonio pointed to a number of incidents earlier this season where he was questioning if his goals would be given and how this impacted his reaction:
"With at least three of my goals this season I wasn't sure whether I'd scored or not," he said.
"Then they've gone 'checking goal' and I'm like yeah, it's okay. Think about me going off and doing the worm five minutes later when they've finally told me I've scored!"
