Michail Antonio remains a mystery doubt for West Ham's crucial clash against Arsenal

Mystery remains to surround Michail Antonio as manager Manuel Pellegrini didn't give a clear indication if he would be fit or not to take on Arsenal on Monday night.

The manager said on Wednesday night that Antonio was rested for the game as he didn't want to risk him having only just come back from a four-month injury absence.

Antonio played 45 minutes of the 3-2 defeat to Spurs and then 75 minutes of the win over Chelsea last weekend and there are rumours he has a groin strain which is why he missed out against Wolves.

Pellegrini made no mention of an injury pre-Wolves, post-Wolves or at his pre-match press conference this afternoon ahead of the visit of Arsenal to London Stadium on Monday.

The manager said: "Michail Antonio, we must continue to see tomorrow (Saturday)  if he is fit for this game."

The Hammers players will train both Saturday and Sunday this weekend where Antonio's fitness will be assessed. As will Robert Snodgrass, who injured himself when missing a golden opportunity to draw the Hammers level at Molineux on Wednesday night.

Jack Wilshere and Winston Reid are "working with the squad" according to Pellegrini but their status for Monday's game against the Gunners isn't yet knows.

Manuel Lanzini and Jack Wilshere are definitely ruled out as they both continue to rehabilitate from surgeries.
