Michaela Strachan's Twitter ban thanks to David Gray as Chris Packham launches appeal

Chris Packham has appealed to Elon Musk to give his colleague Michaela Strachan access to Twitter again after she was banned.

The Winterwatch star, 61, make a plea to Tesla boss and current Twitter owner after Michaela was ‘unceremoniously dumped’ from the app.

Taking to his own page, Chris posted a snap of his telly co-star with an exaggerated sad face as he asked if the billionaire would “mind” reinstating her access.

It seems Michaela was banned following a post of British singer-songwriter David Gray on BBC ’s Springwatch.

It’s unclear what the clip contained but Twitter’s eagle-eye appears to have disapproved.

Chris wrote to Musk on Tuesday: “Hello @elonmusk just to say my wonderful colleague @michaelastracha has been unceremoniously dumped off @Twitter for posting a clip of @DavidGray on @BBCSpringwatch. Would you mind . . .”

Musk - who has recently lost more money than anyone in history, according to reports that emerged last week – is yet to reply to the plea.

Beeb telly presenter Michaela’s profile is still visible but her latest tweet is missing, with a warning replacing the content.

“This Tweet violated the Twitter Rules. Learn more,” a notice reads at the top of her page.

Chris Packham’s plea comes after he revealed he is taking a break from being a TV presenter to try his hand as an animal sculptor.

He exclusively told The Mirror he has cancelled all TV work for three months to create abstract sculptures of birds, snakes and humpback whales.

He insists he is not having a midlife crisis but wants to get "off the treadmill" and feels a bit "burnt out" after decades of being on screen. "I'm not going to buy a Ferrari and run off with a 20-year-old," he laughed.

"I've never taken three months off work. Never. I can barely sleep I am so excited. I might have to ban [partner] Charlotte from the studio," he said.

"I don't want any interference or disruption, I want to get on with it. It will be good to clear my head and focus on something completely different."

Presenters Chris and Michaela Strachan return to anchor the wildlife show from Wild Ken Hill in West Norfolk.

Winterwatch runs from Tuesday 24th to Friday 27th January at 8pm on BBC2 and iPlayer.
