TV host Michaela Strachan will fall back into her BBC role in Autumnwatch 2020 after missing out on Springwatch because of lockdown.
The 54-year-old joins Chris Packham and the rest of the team for the two-week run due at the end of October.
Travel restrictions in spring meant Michaela could not fly in from Cape Town, South Africa, where she lives with her husband and son, for the previous show in May and June.
She will be based at Tentsmuir Forest in Fife where she will be covering, among other things, a live camera set-up on the Isle of May as the grey seals haul out for pupping.
Chris will stay close to his home in the New Forest, with Gillian Burke at RSPB Old Moor in South Yorkshire and Iolo Williams at the Centre for Alternative Technology near Aberystwyth.
A show insider said: “There will be strict social distancing on all Autumnwatch locations and most of the team will continue to work from home.”
Chris, 59, was heartbroken when Michaela could only make guest appearances from South Africa on this year’s Springwatch.
He said she is “the glue that holds it all together”, calling her “consummately professional... always on time, well presented, properly prepared”.
Autumnwatch returns to BBC One this October.
