Michael Vick weighs-in on whether Carson Wentz should change his playing style

Carson Wentz is one of the top-10 quarterbacks in the NFL without a doubt, but if the Eagles star signal-caller can’t avoid being injured on a yearly basis, then how great can he truly become?  Wentz is special, able to toss aside grasping defenders and fire a dime with a flick of his wrist.

That ability to keep a play alive is one of the main factors in Wentz taking a beating on a game to game basis. The Eagles need Wentz to stay healthy if they want any chance at winning another Lombardi trophy.

Former Eagles QB Michael Vick became a legend for his ability to escape the pocket and improvise on the go. He also suffered his fair share of injuries over the years. With Wentz’s penchant for getting banged up being the topic of conversation, Vick sat down with Jon Marks and Ike Reese on 94WIP Marks & Reese Show to weigh in on whether the Eagles current star quarterback should adjust his style of play.

“I don’t think you ask a person in his fourth season to change too much,” Vick told Ike Reese of 94WIP on Wednesday. “He’s effectively doing it, he’s doing it really well. I don’t think you ask him to change that at this point in his career. It’s what they got him for, it’s what they paid him for, and he deserves to go out and execute and find a way to take care of his body.”

Wentz has done a lot to change his body and improve his overall health and conditioning, but being the Eagles franchise quarterback means he has a responsibility to avoid some of the huge hits he takes on a weekly basis. Whether it be simply getting down or throwing the ball away earlier, Wentz has to trade in some of those close calls and focus on working to play another down.
