Michael Thomas becomes highest paid receiver in NFL history

Former Ohio State and current New Orleans Saints receiver Michael Thomas is getting paid.

Thomas was still in the midst of his rookie contract, but was in a hold out trying to negotiate a new deal prior to the start of the 2019 season. He had quickly become one of the best receivers in the game during his first few seasons — setting an NFL record for the most receptions by a player in his first three years.

According to reports, the deal is a huge one for the sport, paying Thomas $100 Million over five years. The contract makes him the highest paid wide-receiver in NFL history, and the first non-quarterback to make at least $100 Million.

This should end the hold out status for Thomas, and now we’ll see what the market does for fellow former Ohio State colleague Ezekiel Elliott with the Cowboys.
