Michael Stewart ridicules Celtic winner 'onside' claims after Christopher Jullien's Betfred Cup clincher

Sportscene pundit Michael Stewart has dismissed claims on social media that Celtic 's Betfred Cup Final goal was correctly awarded.

A number of social media posts using graphics purported to show that Rangers defender Filip Helander played goalscorer Christopher Jullien onside.

However, after playing back the incident several times and analysing all the different angles Stewart is adamant that the goal should have been chopped off.

Speaking on the Ladbrokes Social Club , he said: "I looked at this yesterday. Is that someone trying to highlight an arm?

"You do realise you can't be offside with an arm?"

Host Darrell Currie also weighed in saying: "He is factually offside. The lines were drawn."

Despite stating that the goal shouldn't have stood, Stewart singled out Rangers defender Connor Goldson for criticism in giving away a needless free-kick in a dangerous area.

He said: "The free-kick they scored from - Goldson looked anxious.

"It was almost like he was trying to put down a marker (with his challenge on Odsonne Edouard that caused the free-kick the goal came from) and he's paid the price for it.

"Never mind that Edouard holding the ball in in the first instance, just his presence was causing problems for Rangers' players and there's a big issue for Celic if Edouard was to get seriously injured."
