Michael Stewart reckons Rangers got lucky against Hearts and claims Nick Walsh 'lost the plot'

Michael Stewart reckons Nick Walsh lost the plot with his card-happy performance in Hearts' clash with Rangers.

And he reckons his old team SHOULD have had a penalty - even if he doesn't agree with the handball rule.

Whistler Walsh was in the middle of it in a fiery clash at Tynecastle as Rangers ran out 2-0 winners.

Early goals from Alfredo Morelos and Joe Aribo did the damage but Hearts were later denied a penalty for an alleged handball by Connor Goldson.

Stewart reckons it should have been a penalty by the rulebook - but admits the rules need changed as there was little Goldson could have done.

He said on BBC Sportscene: "Rangers rode their luck this afternoon, there's no doubt about it.

"All the big moments went the way of Rangers.

"This is another big moment (Goldson penalty claim). Now, for me, this isn't a penalty. I don't think Goldson's doing anything wrong.

"But under the current rules, it is a penalty. It hits his hand.

"I don't like the current rules, they need changed, but by the rules it's a penalty.

"If VAR was to look at that, they'd give it. It shouldn't be, but it is.

"It was such a fine margin. It was a hugely frustrating afternoon for Hearts."

Josh Ginnelly was a victim of Walsh's merciless performance as two bookings saw him walk with ten minutes to go.

The winger's second yellow came after he waded into an altercation between Cammy Devlin and Borna Barisic in an attempt to break it up.

Ginnelly's second yellow was one of nine brandished by Walsh in the second half at Tynecastle.

And Stewart added: "The referee lost the plot in the second half. He was pulling yellow cards out all over the place.

"Ginnelly's going in to break it up. He's not aggressive, but it sparks into something.

"If Nick Walsh just calms himself down - look, he's already going over wanting to send someone off.

"Yellow cards were getting handed out left right and centre in the second half. Nick Walsh lost the plot.

"Just calm it down, have a word with the players, and you end up with 11 men on the park."
