Michael Stewart makes Scott Sinclair Celtic transfer claim as he paints bleak picture over star's future

Michael Stewart has refused to rule out a January exit for Scott Sinclair as he doesn't see how the frozen out Celtic star can fit into the side - even with injuries to Mohamed Elyounoussi and Mikey Johnston.

Sinclair has been on the fringes this season but could enter the fray with the two wingers currently on the sidelines.

The Englishman said he was 'focused and ready' as he shared a picture on social media of his incredible physique during the international break.

But pundit Stewart and former Rangers man Alex Rae both believe Neil Lennon will instead turn to Lewis Morgan in the short term and, for Sinclair, a move away from Celtic in the next transfer window is by no means out of the question.

Rae said on Ladbrokes Social Club : "For me, I think Lewis Morgan is ahead of him.

"He's been on the bench the last couple of weeks ahead of him.

"I don't actually know where Sinclair fits into all of this.

"He is obviously one of the highest earners as well."

Stewart added: "I don't think he does fit in, I don't. You've got Jonny Hayes as well.

"For Scott Sinclair, I don't see himself playing a big role."

Asked if he expects Sinclair to leave in January, Stewart said: "It all depends on what the options are."

Elyounoussi was sent home from international duty with Norway as he aggravated a foot injury and is set to miss the game against Livingston at the weekend, while Johnston hasn't featured since Celtic 's September win over Rangers at Ibrox.

The Southampton loanee expects to be fit for the Betfred Cup Final against the Light Blues on December 8 but revealed he picked up the problem in the semi-final against Hibs.

He said: I actually picked up the injury a couple of weeks ago against Hibs in the League Cup semi-final.

“Then I had to go with the national team and it didn’t really have enough time to heal.

“So we had a look at it and it was decided I needed a rest. But I think it will be all right."
