Michael Stewart in Sportsound U-turn as pundit reveals last minute 'change of plan'

Pundit Michael Stewart has announced that he won't be appearing on Sportsound tonight after a "change of plan".

The former Hearts midfielder hasn't featured on the programme since making controversial comments about Rangers PR chief Jim Traynor.

Stewart was not used on Sportscene in the subsequent weeks either, but was reinstated after being "reminded of his responsibilities".

He appeared on the highlights show for the Scottish Cup quarter-finals on Saturday alongside Livingston midfielder Marvin Bartley.

It was expected that the pundit could make his return to Sportsound tonight, his first appearance since the incident, but the ex Manchester United player has revealed that won't be the case.

Stewart wrote on Twitter: "Unfortunately due to a change of plan I won’t be on Sportsound tonight to talk about the huge weekend of Scottish Cup football we’ve just had."

The 39-year-old has become a successful pundit since hanging up his boots in 2011.

As well as Manchester United and Hearts, Stewart represented Hibs , Nottingham Forest and Charlton Athletic.

Stewart also had a spell in Turkey with Genclerbirligi but left without making an appearance.
