Michael Stewart in Celtic and Rangers title prediction as pundit insists Glasgow giants face three-way race

Pundit Michael Stewart believes Hearts can mount a title challenge this season after seeing his former club continue their unbeaten start to the season.

No team outside of Rangers or Celtic have won the title since 1985 when Sir Alex Ferguson's Aberdeen were in their pomp, and the bookmakers expect this season to be no different.

However, Robbie Neilson's side have made an unbeaten start to the season and went top of the Premiership with Saturday's win over Motherwell.

They travel to Ibrox to face Rangers next, with the manager challenging his stars to go to Govan and return with three points.

It's something Stewart believes the capital club can achieve, but the pundit insists there can be a challenge from Tynecastle regardless.

Speaking on BBC Sportscene the former Jambos midfielder said: "Rather than concentrating on their head-to-head results against those teams, if Hearts are consistent against all the other teams in the league then they will be up there challenging.

“That’s the challenge for Hearts. They’re capable, no question, of going home and away and getting results against everyone else in the division - and that includes the two Glasgow clubs.

“But if they get those consistent results against the rest they’ll be up there putting pressure on them (Rangers and Celtic).”
