Michael Stewart fears Albian Ajeti rap sets 'dangerous precedent' for Scottish football

The SFA rap facing Celtic striker Albian Ajeti has set a "dangerous precedent" for Scottish football insists Marcus Stewart.

The 23-year-old was offered a two-match ban after going down when challenged by  Kilmarnock  keeper Colin Doyle and winning a penalty.

Raging Celtic boss Neil Lennon blasted the decision making of the panel of ex-refs who have slammed his “bewildered” Swiss into the dock for diving.

Stewart has also supported the striker with the Parkhead club set to appeal the charge.

On BBC Sportsound, the pundit noted that there was contact and it is near impossible to draw the line between contact and a dive.

He said: “This is a dangerous precedent because the contact is there. Now what we are doing is, it’s not a case of looking at the pictures and you assess if there was contact and ok, there was simulation and they’ve gone down.

“Everybody that has watched it can see Ajeti knows exactly what he is doing, he’s manufactured the situation, but there is contact.

“So who is now to assess whether that contact is enough to receive a retrospective two-game ban?

"I think it’s a dangerous precedent when you’ve got the contact there, as little as it is; I think you need to be definitive on this and there is no way of doing that when there has been some contact in it. I think it’s a dangerous precedent.”
