Michael Stewart delivers verdict on Rangers 'offside' goal as pundit reviews disputed Cedric Itten header

Michael Stewart insists Graham Alexander can't have any complaints despite Rangers striker Cedric Itten's strike being "marginally" offside.

The Motherwell boss fumed at the full-time whistle claiming that Cedric Itten had strayed beyond the defensive line when Borna Barisic delivered the cross that created the equaliser in the 1-1 draw.

The Swiss attacker looks to be millimetres beyond 'Well skipper Declan Gallagher as he heads he ball past Liam Kelly, but pundit Stewart insists it was too close to call for the linesman.

On BBC Sportscene he said: "You hear Graham Alexander saying that it's offside.

"It's a wonderful ball in and he's marginally... but I don't think you can complain.

When asked by host Stephen Thompson if it was a conclusive call, Stewart added: "No, it's not, it's marginally [offside].

"I don't think you can complain, I don't think you can have a go at the linesman for that. It's so tight.

"You give the benefit of the doubt to the striker. I think it's so close it's difficult to get upset about that."
