New world darts champion Michael Smith had a cheeky request when congratulated by police after claiming the world title.
Merseyside Police staff took to Twitter to say well done to St Helens star Smith on winning the PDC World Championship. The 32-year-old - nicknamed Bully Boy - seized the chance to cheekily ask for a speeding ticket to be cancelled, revealing he had been fined for driving 34mph in a 30mph zone.
Merseyside Police St Helens tweeted: "Congratulations to St Helens' own @Michael180Smith on his @officialPDC Championship! Well done Bully Boy!"

Smith replied: "Can I have some of the money for my speeding fines back please. I was doing 34 in a 30. Thank you."
He finished the tweet with a laughing emoji.
Smith started the new year with a bang by beating Michael Van Gerwen 7-4 in the final at Alexandra Palace on Tuesday.
He hit a perfect nine-dart finish to clinch the Sid Waddell trophy, in what many fans have hailed the greatest darts final ever.
After his cheeky request to police, his fans on Twitter were quick to remind him that he didn’t take home just a shiny cup - but also £500,000 in prize money.
Twitter user @statto190379 said: “Think the money you received from winning should just about cover your fine.”
And another, @twit0woo, wrote: “Just won £500k lad, park where you want.”
Smith, meanwhile, visited Super League champions - and boyhood club - St Helens earlier today.
And he later revealed plans to buy a greyhound with fellow darts player Wayne Mardle - and give it a rugby league-inspired name.
They plan to call the dog 'I Can't Spake', a reference to a famous piece of commentary by Mick Morgan during a rugby league match between Castleford and Wigan in 1994.
Asked on Twitter whether the plan to buy a greyhound was "legit", Smith replied: "Yes".
