Michael Sheen's moving story about a Welsh homeless woman on the Jonathan Ross Show

Welsh actor Michael Sheen is known for his great acting, story-telling abilities and passionate social consciousness.

This weekend the Newport-born and Port Talbot-raised star of Good Omens, Underworld and Masters of Sex appears on The Jonathan Ross Show to talk about Street Football Wales and exercises two of his great talents.

While on the sofa - alongside Sir Michael Palin, Katherine Ryan, Alexander Armstrong and Ashley Banjo -  Sheen speaks about The Homeless World Cup in Oslo 2017 and shares a lovely story about one of the players.

Michael Sheen and Matthew Rhys have done Carpool Karaoke and it's peak Welsh

He said: "There was one woman who I’ll never forget… To see her who had been struggling with a lot of different issues, she hadn’t been able to see her children for a long time but being part of this team, the Women’s Welsh team, and getting to go and represent her country in Oslo at the World Cup, to put that Welsh jersey on.

"God bless her she wasn’t the best footballer but she was giving it everything. I saw her score a goal. I will never forget that moment, you saw on her face her life changing in that moment. I’ve seen the power, football becomes a universal language."

Sheen is patron of organisation Street Football Wales which puts together teams of people who have experienced homelessness or social exclusion as a means of bringing them together to try to turn their lives around.
