Michael Sheen changes his name to Martin on Twitter after Quiz mix-up

Quiz star Michael Sheen has changed his named on Twitter to Martin after an ITV announcer mixed up his name on Tuesday night.

The Welsh actor was mistakenly referred to as 'Martin Sheen' - the American actor known for Apocalypse Now and The West Wing - shortly before the second episode of Quiz was broadcast.

Michael, who plays Chris Tarrant in the mini-series, tweeted: "Hey ITV the least you can do is get my name right in your trailers."

And it seems Sheen has taken the blunder in his stride, changing his Twitter name to Martin.

The detail did not go unnoticed on Twitter.

One user jokingly laid out the confusion as a Who Wants to be a Millionaire question, writing: “For 1 million pounds, your question is this: The world renowned Welsh actor is called: A. Michael Sheen, B. Martin Sheen, C. Chris Tarrant , D: Charlie Sheen”.

“Top trolling from Martin Sheen,” another user joked.

“Michael Sheen has changed his Twitter handle to Martin Sheen. Brilliant,” wrote a third.

The original blunder prompted amusement, with writer Caitlin Moran saying: "ITV announced him as 'Martin Sheen.' But to be fair, he's such a powerful and elastic actor he could probably do a better Martin Sheen than Martin Sheen.”

Michael has won praise for his transformative performance as Tarrant in Quiz, which centres on the infamous real-life Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? cheating scandal.

With a fake tan and blonde wig, Sheen’s transformation was praised as “remarkable”.

Quiz concludes its three-part run tonight at 9pm on ITV.
