Michael Sheen has hit back at rumours he wasn't single when he met Swedish actress Anna Lundberg.
Anna, who at 25 is half of Michael's age, is currently expecting the couple's first child together in news that was announced last month.
But now Michael has lashed out at ongoing speculation he was still in a previous relationship when the pair first got together.
Taking to Twitter , the Damned United star wrote: "Wouldn't normally respond to this kind of thing but for the sake of people I love and who have more important things to focus on right now - I was single from the beginning of last summer until I met my partner Anna who is now going to have our baby.
"Just for the record. Thanks," he added tartly.
It came after claims Michael was still dating the comedian Aisling Bea when he and Anna started their relationship.
A source told the Sun in July that both he and Anna were shocked to find out she was pregnant earlier this summer.
"Michael is a popular man – especially with women," they said at the time.
"He was stunned to learn Anna fell pregnant so soon after they met. They are determined to give their relationship a go."
They went public with their romance in May this year, shortly after Irish comedian Aisling was spotted at the Hamilton musical with Andrew Garfield.
Michael was previously linked to Caitlin FitzGerald, who he'd met on the set of their TV series Masters Of Sex and who is now dating her Poldark co-star Aidan Turner.
He was also in a serious relationship with American stand-up Sarah Silverman, who he was with for four years between 2014 and 2018.
A romance with his Midnight In Paris co-star Rachel McAdams was on the cards before that, with the pair dating for three years before splitting in 2013.
Michael also shares daughter Lily - who at 20 is just five years younger than his pregnant girlfriend - with Kate Beckinsale, who he was with for seven years after meeting her in 1995.
The exes remain close, however, with Kate recently insisting: "I really love him and like him and we make each other roar with laughter."
