Michael Schumacher's son Mick finishes eighth on F2 debut ahead of Ferrari F1 test

Michael Schumacher's son Mick finished in the points on his Formula Two debut in Bahrain on Saturday.

Schumacher reached the chequered flag in the feature race in Sakhir in eighth which means he will start on pole position for Sunday's sprint race.

The German, driving for the Prema team and a member of the Ferrari academy, had qualified 10th at Sakhir circuit for the season-opener.

The race was won by Canadian Nicholas Latifi, the Williams Formula One reserve competing for the DAMS team, ahead of Italian pole-sitter Luca Ghiotto and Brazilian Sergio Sette Camara.

“I guess [the F1 tests] something I’ll focus on as soon as it’s time for it,” he said in the Bahrain paddock.

“There’s a bunch of things you have to do to be prepared, and I’ve done that. I’ve done that with Prema.

“I’m doing a lot of sim work for F2 and physical training in trying to have a similar heat to here. It’s very difficult obviously, the sun is very strong.
