The first episode of BBC1’s supernatural thriller Remember Me, starring Michael Palin, attracted more than five million viewers on Sunday night.

The three-part series, in which takes his first leading role in a TV drama for more than 20 years, managed an average of 5.27 million viewers and a 21% share of viewing between 9pm and 10pm.

These are respectable figures against ITV’s top-rated current show, I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here!, which averaged 9.3 million and a 39% share of viewing between 9pm and 10.30pm.

Other 9pm competition included BBC2’s World’s Greatest Food Markets (1.2 million/4.7%), Channel 4’s Homeland (1.2 million/4.9%) and Channel 5’s movie premiere The Green Hornet (0.8m/4.1%).

Earlier in the evening BBC1’s Strictly Come Dancing maintained its comfortable lead over ITV’s The X Factor in the Sunday night results show tussle. An average of 9.9 million viewers tuned in to see Steve Backshall leave, as the results show drew a 40.1% share of viewing from 7.15pm.

The X Factor results show averaged 8 million from 8pm, a 31.2% share of viewing, as Stevi Ritchie became the latest wannabe star to leave the show.

All ratings are Barb overnight figures, including live, +1 (except for BBC channels) and same-day timeshifted (recorded) viewing, but excluding on demand, or other – unless otherwise stated.
Figures for BBC1, BBC2, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5 generally include ratings for their HD simulcast services, unless otherwise stated
