Michael Owen warned Iain Stirling already has loads of jokes about him and his daughter

Love Island narrator Iain Stirling has admitted he’s already got loads of jokes aimed at Michael Owen and his soon-to-be reality star daughter Gemma lined up.

Ahead of this year’s series kicking off tonight, funnyman Iain has warned the former football icon he could be in for a rough ride as his 19-year-old daughter prepares to enter the villa.

The Scottish comedian revealed he doesn’t like to know much about the Islanders before he narrates the series, but he couldn’t help but prepare some jokes for Gemma and her famous dad.

When asked what he thought of this year's islanders, Stirling told RadioTimes.com : "I never look because I like to not know really, I like to approach it like a viewer for the first time. However, obviously, social media being what it is I've seen a couple.

"Me and Mark [Busk-Cowley] who write it, we have 100 million percent been sending jokes back and forth to each other that involve the footballer Michael Owen," he said.

"There's some absolute doozies in there.”

The former England striker, 42, has revealed he is living every father's 'worst nightmare' as his teenage daughter prepares to make her debut on Love Island.

He made the admission after Gemma, who competes in international dressage, confessed that her famous dad isn't 'buzzing' about her living in the villa with an array of strapping young men.

The football legend said on ITV News on Thursday: "I have no doubts that she will make us all proud. It’s probably a father’s worst nightmare, but whatever she wants to do you’ve got to be supportive. I’ve heard a lot about it."

Speaking for the first time since the reveal, Michael, 42, said he hasn't ever seen the show but his 'sensible' dressage rider daughter has assured him "it's not as bad as you think".

Ahead of her telly debut, Gemma has confessed she’s set herself a very ambitious life goal – to be a billionaire like Kylie Jenner .

The ex-England striker’s daughter told how she has big plans and takes inspiration from Kylie’s reality show family the Kardashians.

Gemma, who competes in international dressage, is on the Spanish isle of Majorca, where ITV2 ’s dating show kicks off tonight.

She already has an eye on the future and says: “I would love to carry on with my business which I have just set up. It’s called OG Beachwear. I will be wearing a few bits in the villa, it’s a small collection at the moment.

“I really like the Kardashians, I watch them on telly and I follow them on social media.

“I think they are all good, powerful business women, what they have made for themselves is really inspiring, I’m a massive fan. Who wouldn’t like to be a billionaire like Kylie?”

ITV2 announced the full Love Island contestant line-up earlier this week. As well as Gemma, this year’s series features the show's first ever deaf contestant Tasha Ghouri.
