Michael Owen wants to set the record straight and respond to critics as explosive new book is launched

Michael Owen is hoping to set the record straight regarding his controversial career when his new book hits the shops in September.

Reboot will allow Owen to lift the lid on a career that took him from Liverpool to Manchester United via Real Madrid and Newcastle.

And Owen, who scored 158 goals in 297 games for Liverpool, is launching the book on Thursday, September 5, alongside Match of the Day's Steve Bower for a revealing talk and Q&A.

The event will be held in Craxton Wood Hotel and Spa in Chester at 7pm, and tickets include a copy of his book Reboot.

Speaking earlier this year, Owen explained why he chose to write the book and how he hopes to respond to some of the abuse he receives on social media about his career choices.

In an  exclusive chat with the ECHO , Owen said: "I get a fair amount of stick on social media and through things like that, you can do a million interviews but no-one seems to get the message once for all.

“At least if it’s in black and white, I can tell everybody exactly how I feel, what happened, the situations and all the little nuances that nobody knows anything about.”
