Former Manchester United and England striker Michael Owen believes Jack Grealish will have to "speed his game up" if he is to fit into Manchester City's team and adapt to their style of play.
Owen made the admission after watching Grealish net his first goal for City in their emphatic 5-0 win over Norwich City at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The £100million signing from Aston Villa netted City's second goal of the encounter when a low cross from Gabriel Jesus somehow bounced off him before rolling over the line and into the net, ensuring he opened his account for the reigning Premier League title holders on his home debut.
Despite getting himself on the scoresheet and playing 75 minutes in a straightforward victory, Owen has highlighted some concerns about how Grealish's style of play will not suit City's, pinpointing his tendency of slowing the game down not being suited to the way City play under Pep Guardiola.
"He's also a very different player to what they've got. He's a ball carrier," Owen told the Premier League's official website.
"Man City like doing things quickly. They don't want free-kicks in the opposite [half]. They're not like a Burnley or a Crystal Palace or someone like that.
"If they get a free-kick, it's like 'quick, let's get that ball playing again'.
"You know, him winning free-kicks and slowing the game down isn't what Manchester City want. So he will have to adapt slightly as well. He will because he is a very good player.
"He's got a great touch, he can beat players, but he might have to speed his game up a little bit if he is really going to fit into this Manchester City team.
"It will be interesting in how the season goes, because naturally he doesn't seem like an automatic or natural fit for this team. He's so different to what Pep Guardiola has gone for before today.
"So he will have to adapt like the City players will have to adapt to him."
