Michael Owen says Liverpool's front three should stay together for their own benefit

Liverpool's front three have been urged to remain at Anfield despite transfer speculation linking them with moves away.

Since Mohamed Salah moved to Merseyside in 2017 the attacking trio, that also features Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino, have become of one Europe's most feared units.

But Mane has been linked with a move to Real Madrid while Salah is rumoured to be on the radar of several clubs.

Former Liverpool striker Michael Owen has cited the chemistry at Anfield as a major factor in helping their stars excel.

And he has suggested that were they to be assessed individually they may not hit the heights they currently do.

"I just think this current three, a bit like the Liverpool team really, it just clicks," Owen said on the Savage Social podcast.

"If you lifted individual players and put them into different teams within the Premier League would they be as good without each other?

"It is debatable and probably arguable that you would say no. This team just gels so well with each other and I think that the attacking players benefit so much from the fullbacks that are really attacking players.

"The midfielders give a really solid foundation. I just think everything gels so well.

"To the eye this three probably beat most attacking units over the years."

Mane, Salah and Roberto Firmino are the three Liverpool players who regularly grab the headlines.

Although fullbacks Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson are often hailed for their contributions from the flanks.

The Reds' front three scored 69 goals between them last term as they won the Champions League and finished second in the league.

This term they had managed 49 between them but only had nine more matches to add to their totals having been dumped out of the FA Cup and Europe.
