The transfer window is finally underway allowing Newcastle to use their newly found riches for the first time, and they need it.
Eddie Howe's side are amidst a serious relegation battle and need major reinforcement in order to salvage their season and secure Premier League status for another year.
To make matters worse, Callum Wilson picked up an injury in their 1-1 draw at home to Manchester United, meaning that Howe could be without his prized striker for a number of weeks.
However, Michael Owen has recommended a £20m option to his former club, that he believes can 'do almost every job'.

It may be a new transfer window, but the same rumours continue to emerge as Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos continues to be linked with a move away from Glasgow, and Newcastle are reportedly leading Everton and Leicester in the race to sign him.
Former boss Steven Gerrard was extremely dismissive to any speculation in the past that Morelos would leave Ibrox, but with Giovanni van Bronckhorst now in charge, it could lead to a different outcome.
This may also have legs because Morelos has entered the final 18 months of his Rangers contract, and CBS Sports have claimed that Newcastle are in the driving seat to sign the star, with his price tag of £20m not expected to be an issue for their wealthy owners.
The move has been backed by former Newcastle striker Owen, who once said that Morelos can do "almost every job" after scoring a stunner for Rangers against FC Porto in the Europa League back in 2019.

Owen previously told BT Sport: "He’s that type, isn’t he? He’s the modern centre forward, a strong lad that can almost do every job. He can score goals, hold the ball up and run the channels. Top class."
Attacking acquisitions are exactly what Newcastle need, as on top of the injury to Wilson, Allan Saint-Maximin is also out after picking up a knock in the same match.
This has left Newcastle with limited firepower, which will worry Howe seeing as the Magpies have only managed 19 goals this season, in as many Premier League games.

Morelos on the other hand has been firing, and has so far managed 13 goals and four assists in all competitions during the current campaign, and is enjoying life under van Bronckhorst.
However, the attraction of the Premier League may be too strong to turn down, and Morelos could follow Gerrard's lead in exiting Ibrox mid-season to seek a move to England.
Newcastle are reaching a point of desperation, and with Rangers not willing to let their star go lightly, they could demand the ultimate package from the mega-rich owners to seal a deal.
