Michael Owen predicts Man City vs Atalanta and Partisan vs Manchester United

Both Manchester United and Man City return to European action this week.

The pair enjoyed positive results in the Premier League over the weekend, with City closing the gap on Liverpool at the top of the table to six points thanks to a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday night.

United earned a point with a 1-1 draw against Jurgen Klopp's side on Sunday afternoon, with Adam Lallana's late strike cancelling out Marcus Rashford's first half opener.

And below is how Owen sees the two fairing in Europe this week.

Manchester City vs Atalanta

City have won their last five home games in the Champions League and I would be surprised if Atalanta, who have lost their first couple of group games, bucked that trend at the Etihad.

City have yet to concede in the competition so far this term and I can’t see past another comfortable night for Pep Guardiola’s side.

Prediction: City to win to nil.

Partisan vs Manchester United

Both sides have four points from their opening couple of group games and I feel it will be honours even in Belgrade.

Partizan are unbeaten in their last 11 home ties in European competition (W8 D3) although they have only won four of their 16 group games in the Europa League. United are unbeaten in their last 13 Europa League games and have kept a clean sheet in nine of those ties.

A point would not be the worst result for either side from a game which I believe will be short on goalscoring opportunities.

Prediction: Game to finish in a draw.
