Michael Owen predicts Liverpool vs Chelsea, Man City vs Arsenal and Man Utd results

Michael Owen has backed former club Liverpool to edge Chelsea in this weekend's heavyweight clash.

The Blues travel to Anfield looking to keep their 100 per cent record intact against Jurgen Klopp's unbeaten side.

Chelsea looked impressive in their win over Arsenal last time out and have been bolstered by the signing of Romelu Lukaku.

Virgil van Dijk will be tasked with keeping the Belgian quiet in a battle that will go someway to deciding the contest.

Liverpool saw off Burnley on Merseyside last weekend in front of a packed house for the first time in 18 months.

Owen believes the Anfield factor will, once again, prove crucial for the hosts.

He told BetVictor: “Chelsea are looking fantastic though. They don’t seem to have any weaknesses so far and the size of their squad makes them a hard team to look beyond.

"I loved what I saw from Lukaku against Arsenal and his movement in particular was outstanding. He bullied the Arsenal defence so I’m curious to see how he gets on here. If any defender could deal with him, it would be Van Dijk, what a duel that will be.

"Call me biased but I still like Liverpool’s chances here! With the fans back at Anfield, this will feel like a proper occasion, and I think they can edge it 2-1.”

Arsenal meanwhile have endured a horror start to the campaign, losing their opening two games without scoring.

New arrival Martin Odegaard could come in for the trip north whilst several of their strike players are returning.

Nevertheless, Owen expects their losing run to continue at the Etihad as they take on champions Manchester City.

He added: “It’s been a terrible start to the season for Arsenal and it’s not going to get any easier here. Of course, they were missing some starters on Sunday against Chelsea, but it was still far too comfortable a win for Chelsea.

Who will win out in Liverpool's clash with Chelsea? Have your say in the comments.

"It wasn’t even a surprise to see Arsenal struggle, in fact, the only surprise was that it wasn’t more. If not for Leno in goal, this could have been embarrassing.

"I still don’t think City are fully firing on all cylinders in an attacking sense just yet, but I still see no other winner here. Arsenal have yet to score a goal this season and I don’t think that will change. I’m going 2-0 City.”

Owen has also backed Manchester United to return to winning ways at Wolves.

They dropped points at Southampton last time out but the former Red Devil is predicting a narrow win at Molineux.
