Michael Owen makes Manchester United vs Young Boys score prediction

Michael Owen believes Ralf Rangnick will take Manchester United’s final Champions League group game seriously, tipping them to finish on a high.

The pressure is off for United as they host Young Boys in their final group game on Wednesday night, having already secured their safe passage through to the last-16 stage.

And having also guaranteed themselves top spot, there is very little on the line as Rangnick takes charge for his first European night at Old Trafford.

The game will, though, give the new interim manager a chance to take a closer look at his squad, with as many as six youngsters expected to be part of the squad as Rangnick gives everyone a chance to force their way into his plans for the rest of the season.

The German has already confirmed both Dean Henderson and Donny van de Beek will start against Young Boys, while Nemanja Matic will captain the side as Harry Maguire is given the night off.

More changes are likely following the weekend win over Crystal Palace in what was Rangnick’s first game in charge, although Owen still feels the United boss will be going all out as United look for some revenge over Young Boys.

United suffered a shock 2-1 defeat in Bern back in September after conceding in stoppage time, and will be eager not to let their visitors complete a famous double.

“It wasn’t emphatic but Ralf Rangnick will have been delighted to start his tenure in charge with a win on Sunday,” Owen said in his latest column for BetVictor.

“United lost away to Young Boys so will take this one seriously. I can’t see them slipping up again here, 2-1 United.”
