Michael Owen makes LASK vs Manchester United Europa League prediction

Manchester United can extend their unbeaten run to 11 matches when their Europa League campaign resumes on Thursday.

United won their last match 2-0 as Anthony Martial and Scott McTominay found the back of the net in Sunday's Manchester derby.

As attentions turn back to Europe, Solskjaer's side will be buoyed by a 6-1 aggregate hammering of Club Brugge in the last 32 and former United striker Michael Owen is backing his old team to prevail in Austria.

"United won this competition back in 2017 of course and have looked very convincing so far this year," Owen explained in his BetVictor blog as he backed United to win both halves at the Linzer Stadion. "On top of that they are coming off the back of a derby win over Manchester City at the weekend so confidence will be high.

"LASK do carry strong domestic form into the tie but I see them being overwhelmed by their opponents on the night."

Former Arsenal star Charlie Nicholas has also offered his prediction on the game but believes it will end up as a 1-1 draw.

Nicholas told Sky Sports: "LASK have a good reputation, which is only building. They are a fairly decent side. Again on Saturday, we were talking about Manchester United and whether they had turned a corner. They were vulnerable but Manchester City were so bad, even having so much possession.

"They are still a side better suited to being a counter-attacking team. United have competition for places, their defence has improved and there is more momentum building. they have had a kind draw, but it will not be a walk in the park. It will be a score draw."
