Michael Owen makes assured Liverpool vs Chelsea prediction

Michael Owen believes Liverpool will beat Chelsea in the Premier League this weekend - because they'll be better rested.

The Reds play host to Maurizio Sarri's Chelsea on Sunday, five days after they beat Porto in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final at Anfield.

The Blues on the other hand travel to Merseyside just three days after flying to and from the Czech Republic to play Slavia Prague.

And Owen believes that the extra travel and lack of time to prepare for the Liverpool game means Chelsea will be at a disadvantage this weekend.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's Arsenal absence explained ahead of Napoli clash

"Liverpool take a two-goal lead to Porto on Wednesday and I feel they can maintain their title challenge against Chelsea even though the Blues have such an excellent recent record at Anfield – unbeaten in their last six in the Premier League and 2-1 winners in the League Cup earlier in the season," Owen told Bet Victor.

"Chelsea are in Europa League action in Prague on Thursday having comfortably disposed of West Ham on Monday night courtesy of another Eden Hazard masterclass.

Ex-Premier League referee Mark Clattenburg reveals the football team he supports

"Liverpool will have an extra 48-hours to prepare for the game and I expect to see the Reds – unbeaten in their last 37 PL games at Anfield – keep the points."

Liverpool are currently top of the Premier League by two points, but have played an extra game than second-place Manchester City.
