Michael Owen makes Arsenal admission ahead of Liverpool clash that Gunners fans will hate

Michael Owen has predicted Liverpool to beat Arsenal this weekend because he doesn't 'trust' the Gunners' defence despite their recent run of form.

Mikel Arteta's men have avoided defeat in each of their last 10 outings, a run that currently sees them just two points behind the Reds.

They've kept five Premier League clean sheets in that time, and barring a slight mishap in the 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace in October, the Gunners have looked extremely solid.

Even though Owen's admitted that Arsenal have been impressive at the back in their recent run of games, he's still unconvinced by their defence and thinks that Liverpool will easily exploit it.

Writing in his column for BetVictor, via The Sport Review, Owen said: "This fixture has produced some classics down the years, could we see another here?

“The Reds followed up that draw against Brighton with a defeat against West Ham and Jurgen Klopp was understandably not happy. They’ve had some defensive issues in recent weeks and that will need sorting.

“That’s now three wins in a row for Arsenal and just one goal conceded in that time. This will be a major test of where they are though.

“I fancy Liverpool to get back to winning ways here. I can see Arsenal scoring but I don’t trust their defence, 3-1 Liverpool.”

The timing of Owen's comments are a little surprising and they could prove to be good motivation for Arsenal's defenders going into the game.

Since Arteta has had most of his defensive options fit - especially his favoured centre-back partnership in Benjamin White and Gabriel Magalhaes - the Gunners have drastically improved.

Of course, they're coming up against one of the best attacks in the world, but Arsenal will be confident that they can come away from Anfield with a point or three for the first-time since the 2012/13 season.
