Michael Owen issues Man City vs Porto score prediction

Manchester City are preparing for the opening match of their Champions League campaign against Porto and Michael Owen has issued his prediction for the game.

Pep Guardiola's side reached the quarter-finals of last season's competition and harbour hopes of venturing much further this time around.

City will face off against Porto, Marseille and Olympiacos in this season's group stage, starting with the Portuguese side on Wednesday evening.

Owen doesn't believes that City will encounter any problems in overcoming their continental opponents.

"Manchester City come into this after seeing off Arsenal at the weekend. The Citizens have high hopes of winning their elusive first Champions League trophy and will be aiming for no less than maximum points here," he told BetVictor, as he predicted a 3-0 win for the Blues.

"Porto may have improved over the close season, but I can’t see anything other than a win for City."

City and Porto have not faced off since they played in the Europa League during the 2011/12 season, when City won both matches - including a dominant 4-0 win on home soil.

A similar result this time around would certainly provide a platform to build upon, continuing momentum after overcoming Arsenal at the weekend.

City face West Ham in the league following the game against Porto, before travelling to France to tackle Marseille.
