Michael Owen expects the Tottenham players stalling on signing new contracts to make U-turns and commit themselves to the club now Jose Mourinho is in charge.
Mauricio Pochettino was sacked last week with Mourinho installed as the new Spurs manager the next day.
The former Manchester United boss has done a good job of restoring the mood in north London, lifting the gloom that lingered following defeat in the Champions League final.
He has won his opening two games in charge; beating West Ham 3-2 away from home in the Premier League before getting the better of Olympiacos in the Champions League.
Owen is impressed with the start Mourinho has made at Tottenham.
And the former Liverpool and Manchester United striker reckons Mourinho's appointment will help Tottenham retain their star players.
"It is definitely a more difficult job to score goals for Harry Kane without Eriksen," said Owen on BT Sport.
"You feel that Tottenham will have more chance of keeping the players that have contractual problems, now that Mourinho is at the club."
Christian Eriksen and Toby Alderweireld are among the Spurs stars whose contracts expire in June.
The duo were expected to leave Tottenham if Pochettino was still in charge, but they are both now more likely to stay.
Alderweireld suggested this is indeed the case when he told talkSPORT: "I feel lucky to work for him, so I'll just do my best like I always do."
