Michael Olise injury: Crystal Palace sweat over midfielder after France U21s blow

Crystal Palace are sweating on the fitness of Michael Olise after the winger suffered a hamstring injury while playing for France at the European Under-21 Championship.

Olise scored the winner for France in their 1-0 win over Norway on Sunday but was then forced off after injuring his left hamstring.

He is being assessed but his participation in the tournament is almost certainly over.

The injury to Olise is a worry for Palace ahead of the start of the new season.

France Under-21 manager Sylvain Ripoll said: “It’s an injury to the hamstring in his left thigh. It’s a tough blow.

“It’s a problem for the rest of the competition because we can’t replace him. We’ll find out in the coming hours how long he will be out for.

Olise was voted Palace player of the year by his team-mates last season and could play an even more vital role next season should Wilfired Zaha leave Selhurst Park this summer.
