Michael O'Connor leaves Ross County after 'resigning from position'

Former Linfield striker Michael O'Connor has cut short his time with Ross County.

The Staggies confirmed on Tuesday that O'Connor has left the Scottish Premiership club, just over two months after joining them.

O'Connor moved to the Global Energy Stadium in September in a two-year deal from League of Ireland club Waterford.

He only made one appearance as a late substitute in a 4-1 Betfred Cup win over Elgin City in November.

The former Linfield striker is understood to have returned to the Republic of Ireland.

In a brief statement posted on their website, Ross County said: “Ross County Football Club can today confirm that Michael O’Connor has resigned from his position at the Global Energy Stadium to return home to Ireland.

“We would like to take this opportunity to wish Michael all the best for the future.

“The club will be making no further comment on this matter.”
