Michael O'Connor lands move to Ross County from Waterford

Michael O'Connor has today landed a move to Scottish Premier League side Ross County.

The striker, 22, leaves Waterford where his final act was scoring their consolation goal in Monday’s 6-1 defeat to his former club Shamrock Rovers.

O’Connor made 24 appearances for the Blues over two separate spells and was captain for a time until Brian Murphy’s arrival this season.

“Waterford FC would like to thank Michael for his service and wish him all the best for the future,” said the club in a statement.

Ross County sit fifth in the SPL table after eight games, nine points behind leaders Rangers and eight off second-placed Celtic.

O’Connor, who also played with Linfield and Dundalk and was once on Burnley’s radar, was first linked with the Staggies last year.
