The last few seasons I haven’t seen Corliss play until February or March. This year I saw the Trojans’ second game.
Harvey Jones has more than enough talent to do some damage in Class 2A. Simeon transfer Sincere Malone flashed some potential tonight against Hyde Park. He’s a junior.
“He’s still young,” Jones said. “He’s maturing. I expect him to contribute as the season goes on.”
It will be interesting to see how Hyde Park improves over the course of the season. Coach Reggie Bates is mainly playing juniors and sophomores. Lamont Williams, a sophomore, made three consecutive three-pointers tonight and Jalen Houston dominated the game for stretches.
Thursday’s top games

Glenbrook South 63, New Trier 62 OT: The Titans pick up a big road conference win. JOe Shapiro scored 18 and Dom Martinelli added 17. John Carragher led the Trevians with 23. I’ll see them tomorrow night against Lane in the Chicago Elite Classic.
Solorio 79, Tilden 35: Huge margin for the Sun Warriors. Jordan HIll scored 25, Amarion Fields had 21 and sophomore Donovan Jones added 19 points. Solorio is 4-1.
No. 11 Curie 57, Lindblom 30: The Condors have zero problem with the Eagles on the road. Rough opening week in the Red-South/Central for Lindblom. Ramean Hinton led the way with 24 points and 10 rebounds.
Ag. Science 56, South Shore 46: Jaden House and Corey Jones each scored 10 for the unbeaten Cyclones.
No. 9 Evanston 62, Glenbrook North 25: I’m really looking forward to seeing Jaylin Gibson tomorrow night against Notre Dame. Based on the numbers he’s clearly taken a step forward this season. He had 20 points and six boards against the Spartans.
