Michael Mols proves his Rangers loyalty despite special Feyenoord invitation

Michael Mols has revealed he'll be backing a Rangers win on Thursday - despite being Feyenoord's special guest for the Europa League opener.

The former Ibrox favourite finished his career with the Eredivisie giants but can't bring himself to root against Steven Gerrard 's side.

Mols spent five years in Glasgow, winning six major honours before heading back to the Netherlands in 2004.

He spent time at Utrecht and Ado den Haag before winding down his career at Rotterdam.

But the 48-year-old insists the unparalleled success he enjoyed at Rangers means there'll be no doubt over where his loyalties lie.

“I have been invited to the match by Feyenoord so I am really looking forward to it," he told The Scottish Sun .

“But when it comes to choosing who I will support then it is Rangers every day of the week. That is an easy choice for me.

“Why should I lie to Rangers or lie to Feyenoord? I had a good time at Feyenoord and I’m proud I finished my career there. I enjoyed it, but I was only really a squad player.

“If you compare that with Rangers — I was a first-team regular and was there for five years.

“I have so many great memories from my time in Glasgow, not only football but life in general.

“Rangers is in my heart so it wouldn’t feel right to switch my loyalties to Feyenoord. They say once a Ranger, always a Ranger and that is very true.”
