Michael Keaton to play villain in Spider-Man Homecoming?

Veteran actor Michael Keaton is being eyed for the villain’s role in the new Spider-Man reboot starring Tom Holland. The 64-year-old actor is in talks to join the Sony film; the details about his role are kept under wraps, reported Variety.

It is not clear whether the character known as Adrian Toomes would be the main villain or just one of the bad guys that Spider-Man defeats in a scene. If the deal goes through, Keaton will join Marisa Tomei who plays Peter Parker’s Aunt May, and Zendaya Coleman who plays a non-comicbook character named Michelle in Spider-Man Homecoming.

Spider-Man will be seen in Captain America: Civil War in May

Jon Watts is directing the film from a script by John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein. Production will begin this summer on the film which releases on July 7, 2017. For Keaton, this marks a transition from DC Comics to Marvel. He famously portrayed Batman in Tim Burton’s Batman in 1989.

Keaton was recently seen in Birdman and Spotlight, which both took home Oscars for best picture. Keaton also earned a best actor nomination for Birdman. He can next be seen in The Founder as McDonald’s founder Ray Kroc.
