30 years ago, Michael Keaton ruined a huge Batman plot twist on a chat show the day before the film was released in cinemas.
The actor, who played Bruce Wayne in the Tim Burton film, was being interviewed by David Letterman when he let the spoiler slip.
Letterman asked Keaton what the Joker – played by Jack Nicholson – had done to anger his character in the film to which Keaton revealed a little too much.
“Bruce Wayne witnesses the murder of his parents when he’s a kid,” he tells the host, who asks if the Joker was responsible for this.
It was here where Keaton delivered the crushing blow to the audience, by saying: “Yeah, but he doesn’t know it ‘till later – I’ve kind of blown the plot here.”
The audience, who was likely comprised of people excited to see the new film, groaned in unison.

Keaton's blunder didn't hurt the film's box office chances. It went on to gross over $411m (£322m) globally.
