Michael Jordan donates $2 million to hunger-relief organization

Michael Jordan will donate $2 million he earned from the documentary “The Last Dance” to hunger-relief organization Feeding America.

“In these challenging times and in a year of unimaginable difficulty due to COVID-19, it’s more important than ever to pause and give thanks,” Jordan said in a statement tweeted by Feeding America. “I am proud to be donating additional proceeds from The Last Dance to Feeding America and its member food banks in the Carolinas and Chicago to help feed America’s hungry.”

The 10-part ESPN documentary won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Series. “The Last Dance,” a deep dive into Jordan and the 1997-98 Bulls’ run to a sixth NBA championship, took the basketball world by storm earlier this year. It put up record-breaking audience numbers for an ESPN documentary and dominated the discourse at a time when most sports were not in action due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
