May 25--Cameras flashed almost as brightly Michael Jordan's wide smile as his son, Marcus, opened his Trophy Room shoe store in Orlando to the public on Monday.
Marcus' siblings and celebrity friends paid tribute online and in person.
Actor Shad Moss, formerly known as rapper Bow Wow, tweeted and posted an Instagram video of himself chatting with Marcus and Michael after father and son posed for pictures. "My bros Marcus his dad (Michael Jordan) i just cant call him that hahaha and myself. Yesterday at @trophyroomstore crazy marcus we went from kids to owning (stuff). Congrats boy! His store in orlando is Craazy!," he wrote.
Marcus' sister Jasmine Jordan posted an Instagram picture of the store's doors with the date "5-23" stenciled on them, along with the caption: "What's behind these doors? A story to be told. A legacy to learn. An experience that must be enjoyed. Behind these doors is something that you can only see to believe."
Pro golfer Ian Poulter and his son Luke attended a private pre-launch gathering on Sunday and walked away with matching pairs of Jordan's XX3. Charlotte Hornets guard Courtney Lee also paid a visit.
Marcus Jordan ushered in his Jordan Brand boutique shrouded in family symbolism. The store's name was inspired by the family trophy room at Michael Jordan's Highland Park mansion. The launch date, May 23, and opening time, 5:23 a.m., represent a combination of Marcus' and Michael's jersey numbers. Marcus wore No. 5 for Chicago's Whitney Young High School and the University of Central Florida in Orlando, and Michael wore No. 23 for the Bulls.
The store's logo takes the shape of a trophy formed by the letters "M" and "J," the initials of both Marcus and Michael Jordan.
