Michael Jackson recruited Babyface to set him up on a dinner date with Halle Berry

Michael Jackson once called in a favour to Babyface to help set him up on a dinner date with Halle Berry.

The R&B singer - real name Kenneth Edmonds - recalled the late Thriller hitmaker's surprise request during an Instagram Live with pal Teddy Riley.

As his friend played his hit song Right Here during the live chat, the King of Pop's vocals appeared on the track.

This prompted Babyface to recall how he once played middle man for the pair.

He explained: "One time Michael called me. Michael said, 'Babyface! Do you know who Halle Berry is? Do you know Halle Berry?' I said, 'Yeah, I know Halle Berry.'"

He continued: "He said, 'Could you do me a favour? I want you to call her, 'cause I wanna take her out on a date.' I said, 'What?' He said, 'Call her - I wanna take her out on a date.'

"So I reached out through the agent, 'cause I didn't have Halle Berry's number. So, I called and get the message to her manager, and he said, 'What?' (I said), 'Yeah, he (Jackson) wants to take her out on a date.'"

But despite the exciting anecdote, Babyface unfortunately didn't reveal whether or not the pair ever enjoyed a date together.

Mirror Online has contacted Halle Berry for comment.

It comes as Michael's estate donated $300,000 (£249,550) to communities that have been effected by the  coronavirus  pandemic.

The co-executors of Michael Jackson's estate announced that the relief fund will be divided between three charities helping people through the pandemic based out of the United States.

A sum of $100,000 (£83,183) will be donated to Broadway Cares Emergency Assistance fund, non-profit musical charity MusiCares and Nevada-based foodbank Three Square.

The Michael Jackson estate is one of a number of prominent organisations and celebrities that have announced that they would be donating large financial sums to support during the coronavirus outbreak.
