Michael Jackson parented his children on his own because his wife, Debbie Rowe had no desire to be a mother.
The King of Pop had two children with former nurse Debbie - Prince, born in February 1997; and Paris, born April 1998.
Michael was given full custody of the children when he divorced Debbie after three years together.
Debbie says she never had any intention of being a mother to her children and that her pregnancies were a 'means to an end' to give the pop star the children he was desperate for.

In footage from an interview in 2003, Debbie said she was happy for him to have full custody and to do all the parenting.
Debbie said on The Footage You Were Never Meant To See: "I did it for him to become a father, not for me to become a mother, writes The Mirror.
"You earn the title parent. I have done absolutely nothing to earn that title."
When asked about Michael's efforts to keep their kids happy and safe, Debbie said: "That is because Michael did all the parenting. I didn't do it to be a mother.

"I didn't change diapers. I didn't get up in the middle of the night, even when I was there, Michael did it all."
Debbie has previously said that part of their marriage was that she gave "her womb" to Michael, so that she could help him become the father that he desired.
She said: "Michael was divorced, lonely and wanted children. I was the one who said to him, 'I will have your babies'.
"I offered him my womb, it was a gift. It was something I did to keep him happy."

In conceiving for their children, Debbie explained they never had sex in order to get pregnant, and that she went to a medical clinic for this to happen.
She said that the process at "the office" made her feel like a "thoroughbred."
Debbie said: "They impregnated me. It's just like I impregnate my mares for breeding. It was very technical.
"Just like I stick the sperm up my horse, this is what they did to me. I was his thoroughbred."
In 2004, Debbie decided that she wanted to reverse the custody decision and went to court.
A settlement was agreed and in 2009, Debbie came to a custody agreement after Michael's death, with his mother Katherine Jackson named as the children's guardian at the time.
After his divorce from Debbie, Michael had a third child, Blanket, in February 2002, via a surrogate mother with an egg donor.
