Michael J. Fox pays tribute to his wife as she supports him amid Parkinson's struggle

Michael J. Fox has been wishing his wife Tracy Pollan a happy birthday as he described her as his "love and best friend".

Tracy celebrated her 63rd birthday on Thursday and her husband has taken to Instagram to share a very gushing tribute about the actress.

The couple first met when they co-starred on Family Ties and got married in 1988, with Tracy supporting her husband through a decades-long struggle with Parkinson's disease.

In his social media post, Michael wrote: "She showers the people she loves with love, she shows them the way that she feels.

"Happy happy birthday @tracy.pollan my forever Summer girl, my love, my best friend, and the most beautiful amazing mom to our four stupendous kids.

"Love love love you."

In one snap, Michael and Tracy cosied up to one another as they sat in front of the ocean.

Tracy sweetly rested her head on Michael's shoulder as he wrapped his arm around his wife.

Another picture showed the couple laughing and joking together as they set on a veranda surrounded by flowers. Tracy put her arm around Michael's shoulder as they put their heads together.

Commenting on the post, Tracy wrote: "Love this and you!!!!" with a series of love heart emojis.

Michael recently opened up about the love and support he received from Tracy after being diagnosed with Parkinson's in 1991 at just 29 years old.

In his new documentary titled Still: A Michael J Fox Movie, he said his wife whispered "in sickness and in health" after he revealed the news of his diagnosis.

Speaking to People magazine at the premiere of the documentary, Michael praised his wife as he gushed: "Any good in our family, anything good that we do, comes from her."

Tracy added that she believes the secret to their long-standing marriage is mutual respect as she revealed: "I think we really listen to each other. We are there for each other when we need each other.

"And then we also give each other space when that's needed. Just feeling off of what's needed at the moment and trying to be there."
