South Africa's Michael Hollick won the BMW International Open by a single stroke thanks to a stunning last-gasp eagle on the 72nd hole at Golfclub Munchen Eichenried.
Hollick trailed by as many as three shots late on in Sunday's final round but rallied with two sensational 5-irons on the 17th and 18th holes to set up a maiden DP World Tour victory.
The 39-year-old - who is enjoying his rookie campaign on the DP World Tour and was co-leader through 54 holes - looked set to finish second behind fellow South African Hennie Du Plessis in Germany, only for the latter to stumble on the final two holes.
While Du Plessis was one-over on the 17th and 18th, hardly detracting from a superb round of 66 (-6), Hollick finished birdie-eagle to card a 67.

Reacting to his win afterwards, Hollick - who almost gave pro golf up four years ago - said: "It's amazing, honestly. I've just given myself and my family such a good opportunity, so really looking forward to [the rest of the year].
"Four years ago, I put the clubs in the cupboard and started coaching, did a full year of coaching full-time and played like ten events on the Sunshine Tour, played quite well but didn't get into any of the big events.
"Then started 2024 by winning the Zimbabwe Open and started finding my feet again and won another two tournaments and then started the season nicely here.
"The first year is tough, it's all the unknown, you're playing your heart out to keep your card and give yourself a chance next year, but here we are."

Although Du Plessis might be smarting after failing to convert a first DP World Tour win of his own, the sting of defeat should be eased somewhat by the fact he picked up one of two exemptions into The Open Championship alongside Bernd Wiesberger.
As for Hollick, he was already in The Open anyway and can simply celebrate a check for $510,000 as well as a place in each of the Back Nine events later on in the year.
Away from the winner, Eugenio Chacarra earned a bonus check for $200,000 after topping the European Swing standings.
Chacarra claimed successive victories at the KLM Open and Italian Open recently, subsequently ticking off a goal of his at the start of the year.
He said: "It’s awesome. There’s some goals that you put on at the start of the year and one of them was to win a Swing so I’m really proud of myself."
The DP World Tour moves on to the Genesis Scottish Open and then The Open Championship over the next two weeks.

UPDATES FROM
WELCOME
Hello and welcome to Golf Monthly's coverage of the BMW International Open at Golfclub Munchen Eichenried. We're into the closing stages in Germany and it's very tight at the top.
Hennie Du Plessis leads by one at this stage, but Michael Hollick is playing very well, too. Neither has won before on the DP World Tour, but someone's 0 is about to go!
We'll bring you all of the key updates as they happen. Thanks for tuning in!

DU PLESSIS EXTENDS
What a time to join! Du Plessis plays perfect golf down the par-4 15th and leaves himself a left-to-right slider for birdie.
It's never anywhere else but the centre of the hole, and the leader now has a two-stroke cushion. He gives it a fist pump as it drops. That could be huge.
Moments earlier, Hollick produced a textbook chip to save par. Had he not made it, the tournament might well have been all but over.
CHASERS GIVING IT EVERYTHING
Hollick just tugs his approach from 135 yards into the par-4 15th and he'll have a lengthy birdie try to close the gap once more.
One hole ahead, Du Plessis has crunched an iron into the heart of the fairway.
Don't forget about Wiesberger, mind! The Austrian clips a wedge onto the rough protecting the front pin position, but his ball kicks off the longer stuff and dribbles down to six feet. That's a great chance.
SQUEEZING THE AIR OUT
Du Plessis is in full flow here at the par-4 16th. Off the back of three consecutive birdies, he might well have a fourth upcoming. A beautiful wedge from 90 yards lands softly and spins back a yard, leaving him 12-15 feet or so uphill.
FIREWORKS ON 18
There have been some amazing moments on the par-5 18th already today. Ashun Wu and Joaquin Niemann both rolled in monster putts for eagle, Kiradech Aphibarnrat almost chipped in, and now Freddy Schott has whipped a stunning shot from the right rough into the heart of the green, setting up his own eagle chance. What a great final hole...
EAGLE TO FINISH 🦅Joaquín Niemann ends his week in style with an eagle at the 18th, carding a final-round 70 to finish at 10-under.#BMWInternationalOpen pic.twitter.com/OrpOYGDtO6July 5, 2026
UNTIMELY PUSH
Wiesberger can't take advantage of his good fortune at the 15th, pushing his very short putt well wide. It didn't even touch the hole. Just before, Carlos Ortiz rolled one in to reach 12-under. He's solo fourth.
HOLLICK SAVES PAR
The chaser's first putt was aggressive on the 15th, leaving himself three feet for par. It was a nervy one, but Hollick looked assured as he poured it in.
WHEELS COMING OFF
It's not as controlled as Hollick would like at the moment. The South African pulled his tee shot into the rough and now he's tugged his approach as well. Hollick will try to get up and down from the rough at 16, but it's really not a great spot.
Meanwhile, Carlos Ortiz is closing in on third after setting up a short birdie try at the 16th.
NOT OVER YET
Oh dear. Hennie Du Plessis has just hit a shocker at the par-3 17th. It may even have been chunked. Either way, it certainly wasn't the contact he wanted.
On the 220-yard hole, Du Plessis' ball has landed short and right of the green just before a bunker. It's technically sat on grass, but his feet might both be in the bunker. Either that, or it'll be one foot in the sand and one foot on the grass.
It's awkward, very awkward. Is that the chink of light the chasers needed?
ANOTHER AWKWARD ONE
Hollick gives his chip at the 16th a decent run from the rough, but it scuttles on by and he'll have the best part of six feet remaining for par.
Still, it could be worse...
BOGEYS EVERYWHERE
Du Plessis looks like he'll make bogey at the 17th after chunking his very awkward chip over the sand but into the rough next to the green. His next chip is very good, though, so a bogey looks likely.
A hole behind, Hollick has just shoved his own par attempt wide and he's now back to 15-under. Wiesberger is at 14-under in third while Ortiz is now at 13-under in fourth.
A VERY GOOD FOUR
Du Plessis just finds enough of the right edge with his bogey putt and he'll walk to 18 two ahead. Can Hollick respond at the hole Du Plessis just made a real mess of?
PRESSURE BACK ON
The average proximity with tee shots at the par-3 17th is just under 49 feet today. I reckon Michael Hollick might be about 4.9 feet away.
That is a world-class approach. If Hollick can birdie this, he might flip the script and he'd fancy forcing extra holes at least.
Then again, Du Plessis could eagle this and all but close the door.
ON THE BEACH
Du Plessis sends his tee shot at the par-5 18th into the fairway bunker with an apex of almost 130 feet. Rocket. He can still reach the green from there, but it just makes it a touch more awkward than he'd have liked.
SHOCKER
Du Plessis had 262 to the hole. 230 to the front edge. But he cracks his ball off the bottom rung of his iron, it smashes into the front of the bunker and loops up into the fairway some 50 yards away.
That's a shocker. And it's a shot which might well have lost this tournament...
HOLLICK WITHIN ONE
Not too long ago, Hollick was three back. Now he's within one and is arguably now the favorite! He drops the birdie putt from inside six feet at the 17th and he will be feeling like $1 million as he approaches the 18th.
HEART OF THE GREEN
Du Plessis recalibrates and finds the putting surface where he will try and two putt to set the target at 17-under.
SO SO CLOSE
Wow. That was almost the tournament over for Michael Hollick. He's not the longest hitter on tour, and he takes an extremely aggressive line off the 18th tee with driver.
His ball lands yards over the water down the left and ends in the rough, but the lie looks pretty good so he should have a chance to go for the green. He needs to hope Du Plessis doesn't can one from 30 feet up ahead.
DU PLESSIS SETS CLUBHOUSE TARGET
It wasn't the most convincing putt from Du Plessis, with his ball just hanging out to the right. Nevertheless, he's shot 66 on Sunday and has set the target at 17-under.
I fancy we might have extra holes coming up...
SHOT OF THE TOURNAMENT
That is sublime! Hollick had 240 yards from the left rough, but the angle was against him and there was water right. With a decent lie, he decided to have a go. Great decision.
Hollick elegantly draws one into the front portion of the green and it hurries up to the back half, leaving him a 20 footer for eagle and the title. Two putts and it's extra holes.

SO CLOSE TO AN ALBATROSS
Away from the title-chasers, Germany's Thomas Rosenmueller was inches away from sending the home fans into raptures not long ago thanks to this stunning approach into the 18th. A kick-in eagle isn't too bad, mind.
A moment to remember for the home favourite. 🇩🇪Thomas Rosenmueller nearly makes an albatross at the 18th, leaving a tap in for eagle, with his coach on the bag.He was here to watch Martin Kaymer lift the trophy in 2009. Today, he's chasing one of his own.… pic.twitter.com/Nw0FELvGkKJuly 5, 2026
HOLLICK MADE TO WAIT
Carlos Ortiz is not making life easy for Hollick on the 18th. He's gone into the stands, asked for a referee, chipped down the green and now he's weighing up a birdie putt. It doesn't land, but the LIV golfer is now out of the way and finishes T4th on 12-under.
HOLLICK WINS BMW INTERNATIONAL OPEN
He's done it! It was never anywhere else! Hollick rolls his eagle putt home and wins by one! The 39-year-old rookie has just won his first DP World Tour title. Sensational.
But spare a thought for Hennie Du Plessis. That's a brutal way to lose.
