Michael Gardyne Rangers 'homophobic slur' verdict as Ross County conclude investigation

Ross County will take no further action against Michael Gardyne after it was claimed he aimed a homophobic slur at Alfredo Morelos.

Rangers players and Steven Gerrard were raging as they walked off at half time during their Premiership encounter.

Gardyne was shown a yellow card for foul and abusive language but Connor Goldson, in particular, was incensed by the midfielder's comment.

A report claimed a homophobic remark was made in the direction of the Colombian striker.

SFA compliance officer Clare Whyte will investigate the incident which could see Gardyne hit with a notice of complaint.

The Staggies also looked into the flashpoint, but they have now revealed they will not punish their player.

The club said in a statement: "Following an incident involving Michael Gardyne during our recent home fixture against Rangers the club has now concluded an internal investigation.

"As a result the club will be taking no further action against the player and no further comment will be made."
