Michael Gardyne cleared in probe as Rangers flashpoint deemed unworthy of action by Ross County

Ross County will take no action against Michael Gardyne for the flashpoint against Rangers after closing their investigation.

The Staggies veteran was at the centre of a row after an alleged comment during the 4-0 defeat at Dingwall.

Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos had just been fouled by Iain Vigurs and there was an altercation with Gardyne.

The County forward was booked for his part in the incident but several Rangers players and manager Steven Gerrard were left irate at the lack of a more severe punishment as they accused Gardyne of making an offensive remark during the ensuing row.

After the match Gerrard would not disclose the nature of the comment, however he did say it "doesn't belong on a football pitch".

The SFA's compliance officer is investigating claims of a "homophobic slur" made by the player which has not yet been concluded and Gardyne has denied using any such language.

County launched their own probe in the wake of the incident and have found that the player has no case to answer.

A statement read: "Following an incident involving Michael Gardyne during our recent home fixture against Rangers the club has now concluded an internal investigation.

"As a result the club will be taking no further action against the player and no further comment will be made."
