Michael Fassbender gearing up to participate in Rally of the Lakes 2019 in Killarney, Co Kerry

Hollywood star Michael Fassbender is getting into gear ahead of his participation in one of Ireland's biggest rallying events.

The multi-Oscar nominated actor, who grew up in Co Kerry, is an ambassador for this year's Rally of the Lakes.

He is pictured testing out a Porche 911 at a promotional day for what will be the event's 40th anniversary.

The Irish-German actor, 41, will take to the roads for the Cartell.ie Rally of the Lakes which will take place in Killarney on the May bank holiday weekend.

Event coordinator Cormac Casey said: "Today’s selection of rally cars provided Michael with a flavour of the type of cars suitable for the event."

Healy added: "Our 40th anniversary event is generating huge support and we hope to have a very strong entry for the event."
